
Web Based Marketing
There are many forms of web based marketing, some of them were good, some of them are good, but the main point
to consider when choosing a form or web based marketing, is whether it is the right kind for the job in hand and
whether it is something that suits your abilities. Not all forms of web based marketing will suit every marketer or
even every item that a marketer wants or has to promote.

I wrote a quick list of the number of ways of promoting online that I could think of and the number came to
twenty-seven. Given a bit more time, I could probably come up with another ten or so and there are new ways being
invented every month.
The problem for the new-comer to web based marketing, is to avoid the old, tired methods that produce very
limited results these days. There are quite a few of them, but they are still being promoted for cash memberships
my some hard-nosed 'business people', for want of a better term.
The whole point of web based marketing is to get customers, right? Customers or clicks or email addresses or
sales, it is all the same. In order to achieve this, you need visitors to your website. A percentage of those will
convert to what you require. The percentage varies from topic to topic or from item to item, so it is hard to say
what conversion rate of visitors to customers you can expect.
Let's work on 5%, but this is just a random, fairly good starting point for discussion. If you want 50 visitors
to your site to become customers every day, you will need at least 50 x 20 or 1,000 visitors every day.
This is far from impossible, but people will not come to your website unless they know that it exists. Herein
lies the problem of web based marketing. How can you attract the number of visitors that you need to get the number
of clicks that you want?
Well, the simple answer to that is to rank highly on the search engines and especially Google. Google is by far
the biggest search engine of them all, so getting your website listed on page one in Google for the search term
that you have chosen is the main priority in web based marketing.
There have been thousands of books written about how you can achieve this state of online Nirvana and it is
every online marketer's goal. There are only ten (default) entries on each of Google's return pages for any given
search.
Also given that there are more websites than people in the world and probably ten times more web pages and that
more than a million web sites are being added to the web every day, you may think that this is a hopeless task.
But you would be wrong. The answer lies in the methods of web based marketing that you choose and the product
that you choose to promote. This is where the real skill comes in. 'The Big Boys And Girls' throw money at the most
lucrative areas of the world's on and off line markets. Small people like us cannot hope to compete there, so we
have to pick our markets carefully.
Making money online for the 'small person' is all about choosing the right product and choosing the right method
of web based marketing.
